THE PROBLEM
Structural Waterproofing is the generic description for techniques which allow buildings to be constructed below ground level and which prevent the ingress of groundwater through walls and floors which are, at least in part, underground. These techniques can be applied to existing structures to control dampness or in new buildings to prevent the penetration of dampness post-construction into basements, lift shafts etc.

Buildings with a history of below ground dampness may have been previously treated with Structural Waterproofing (or "tanking"). Developments in material technology and application methods mean that it is now possible to replace old or failed waterproofing systems with confidence. Structural Waterproofing may be combined with the injection of Damp Proofing where damp exists above and below ground in the same wall.

THE SOLUTION
Cannon Clarke offers a full feasibility, design and installation service for Structural Waterproofing for residential and commercial clients. Cannon Clarke has 20 years experience in providing Structural Waterproofing services and is a member of the British Structural Waterproofing Association.

As with our other services, the first step in assessing your need for Structural Waterproofing will be a site survey from one of our surveyors or a review of the design drawings for new-build projects.

We will then be able to specify the most appropriate system for your needs. This will be either a cementitious slurry system which creates an impermeable layer on floors and walls or a cavity drain membrane system which not only provides an impermeable layer but has the added benefit of providing a route for trapped water to drain away.

We constantly review the treatments available to ensure that only the best products are presented to our customers. We are currently recommending the use of Vandex cementitious slurries and Delta membrane systems (pictured right during installation) although we may consider other products in specific situations. Full technical details of these materials are available in the data sheets section of this site.

After Structural Waterproofing systems have been applied and replastered as necessary, the walls and floors of the affected areas will be suitable for decoration to the highest standards.

Structural Waterproofing work undertaken by Cannon Clarke is normally covered by our 10-20 year guarantees depending upon the systems used.

Our Projects and Testimonials pages will help you to understand how we have helped many customers to control and prevent dampness in below ground structures by the installation of Cannon Clarke Structural Waterproofing.
